We at Dis"ability" Vehicles request your help! A family in Maryland is in
desperate need of transportation. Here is a portion of their letter:

"My husband and I are wheelchair bound. I have a Maryland driver's license
(with the restrictions of a steering knob and hand controls) We have an 11
year old daughter. We desperately need a car. We are presently receiving
Social Security Benefits, but I am looking for legal secretarial work. I saw
you web page so I thought that I would email you to find out how we may
qualify for a low cost, accessible car. Please advise! Please contact

I have a chair uplift. It is brand new but unfortunately I can't use it.
It is a seat cushion that you sit on and it helps you rise from a chair
by setting your weight and it has a spring system in it. I paid $200
for it but will give it to anyone that needs it.
They must pay the shipping and handling though. Thank You.

Whom it concern,

I would like to know if you could help me with transportation. I want to stop dealing with the bad and frustrating situation that Dial-Ride offers to its clients. I would like to have a van that I can drive. I don't want to be stop, on my away to reach my goals. That is why, I'm asking for your help. I don't receive any help from the government. I don't qualify for SSI or normal medical. I'm a legal migrant from Mexico. I live with my parents in the USA. They help me in everything they can. They do their best, but they can't do anything about this difficult situation.

I'm a 20 years old male, with a fracture on my disk T-7. I have a spinal cord injury. It made me paralyzed from the chest down. I'm on a wheelchair. Two years ago I had an accident that change my life. I'm a prisoner in my own home.

The transportation for disable persons in Stockton is not good. The buses from Dial-Ride are always too late or too early, after I had made a reservation the day before my pick up. They do the same with my return time. The personnel including drivers, do not give satisfy service to the clients. There are times that they don't see my reservation on the computer and I end up canceling all my plants for that day. They can't do their service without a reservation. Dial-Ride can not do anything about the misunderstanding at the time. They have been situations that they are very rude to the disable people. When I have questions or I want to make a reservation, I called them. They answer the phone in a mad mode. The drivers do the same thing when I have any questions. Sometimes day take me to the wrong address that I want to go to. They get mad at me, knowing they made a mistake. Most of them do not know how to strap wheelchairs. They live the straps to loose or they don't strap the wheelchair at all. I have become a prisoner in my own home.
